Book Synopsis:
Godspeed was once fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos.
It’s been three months since Amy was unplugged. The life she always knew is over. Everywhere she looks she sees the walls of the spaceship Godspeed.
But there may be hope: Elder has assumed leadership of the ship. He’s finally free to act on his vision-no more Phydus, no more lies.
But when Elder learns shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed. They must work together to unlock a mystery that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier. Their success-or failure-will determine the fate of the 2,298 passengers aboard Godspeed. But with each step, the journey becomes more chaotic, and the love between them more impossible to fight.
Book Review:
A very good sequel that really surprised me. I feel bad that I have had this on my Too Be Read pile for way too long now. It was actually a surprisingly good sequel to Across The Universe, which I enjoyed. So diving back into this world was really interesting.
It was interesting to see that this book had a lot of drama & conflict between a lot of the characters. Also this book had a lot more characters with very different agendas and their own systems of beliefs. Plus we find out things that we didn’t know before. Plus there are a lot of deeper issues that both of our main characters have to face.
Elder is now in charge and that presents a whole slew of challenges for him. There are events that take place that Elder has to handle. Some of them are harder than he could have imagined. I mean there are a lot of people on the ship who don’t like the way that things have been run. Not to mention that people are no longer on the drugs that kept them in line.
Plus there are things going on with Amy and the fact that Orion left her clues as to what was happening. This mystery is interesting as it reveals to us the readers slowly that Eldest kept a lot of secrets and wanted things a certain way for a reason. We slowly learn things are not always what they seem. There are some major surprises. I love books that feature surprises. The surprise is like WOAH. This is getting good and the fact that they have found a planet is wonderful, yet not everybody thinks this is good news.
As readers we learn that Eldest kept this to himself and learn that the planet is dangerous. That Eldest knew this was a major surprise, plus it leads the people of Godspeed to make some interesting decisions. Elder and Amy have some major decisions to make for themselves. Yet, I wasn’t really surprised that they made for themselves. What I liked about this book was the mysteries of what Orion had done.
The relationship between Elder and Amy also got some more time together. Thought that there were some more challenges mainly from people’s discrimination that Amy is different. Amy feels the differences big time. Although Elder and Amy fight, I felt that these are realistic disagreements that couples will have from time to time. Yet when they make up, it’s really sweet. You can also see that Amy really does have feelings for him and Elder as well.
A very good book. I can’t wait to read the next book, Shades of Earth.

I'm torn. I didn't *love* Across the Universe but I am kind of interested in A Thousand Suns. Your review is making me reconsider this a little. Great review!
